PostHeaderIcon Lenore McGann: Yacht Club parking problems, solved

This is in response to the Yacht Club crying “poor me.” Tenderfoot and Lower Gold Run desperately needed a bike path. That area was dangerous! The town has the responsibility and I believe an obligation to keep their town Copyright 2011 Summit Daily News. All rights reserved. PostHeaderIcon “Grand Yacht Club Unveiling” Showme’s photos around Shanghai, China

A TripAdvisor™ TripWow slideshow of a travel blog to Shanghai, China by TravelPod blogger Showme titled “Grand Yacht Club Unveiling”. TravelPod is a company of TripAdvisor™. Showme’s travel blog entry: “This grand unveiling was an eighteen artist high-power blacklight, led, fire and pyrotechnic combination of scenes designed with high impact in mind. The show heralded the unofficial opening of a luxurious yacht club somewhere two hours drive from Shanghai. In the area around the waterways private houses and apartment complexes had recently been built and were being put up for sale at very substantial prices. Our hotel was a massive complex, obviously central to the surrounding development, and it was sided by rows of European-style buildings, units for sale on c****s built out of the lake. The place had it’s own unique aesthetics but felt strange because it was still very much empty. Some of my photos are from the hotel/yacht club location and others are impressions of downtown Shanghai.” Read and see more at: www.travelpod.com Photos from this trip: 1. “Grand Yacht Club Unveil: Shanghai Outskirts” See this TripWow and more at tripwow.tripadvisor.com

PostHeaderIcon An Introduction to the Chicago Yacht Club

An introduction to the Chicago Yacht Club. “A Tradition of Yachting Excellence” is not only the Chicago Yacht Club’s tag line, but a fitting description for a club that has dedicated itself to promoting the sport and perpetuating the values of camaraderie and community. In 1869, eight sailors organized what was to formally become the Chicago Yacht Club six years later, in 1875. They had one 18-foot cat boat and an old wooden shack on Lake Michigan. Their intent: “To find a better way to attract more boats, more sailors, and to organize better races and other yachting events.” This continues to be the tradition 134 years later. The Chicago Yacht Club is one of the oldest and most respected yacht clubs in the world. In keeping with the Club’s original purpose, it sponsors over 100 races and other yachting activities and provides opportunities to introduce individuals to the sport year after year.
